Professionals Today is a service organization made up of professional
women. The club was chartered in 1985 as the Pilot Club and later became
Professionals Today.
The dues from the members are all spent locally, supporting community
activities.
The largest event is the Cherokee Strip Cook-off. The cook-off began in
1985 as a chili cook-off and won an international award from Pilot
International for the best fund raiser for a new club.
The event benefits Hospice of Northern Central Oklahoma.
A few years later the event expanded to include barbecue.
So now the multi-state event is a chili and barbecue cook-off.
The club members work all year on the cook-off, which is set at Lake
Ponca Park Pageant area.
Other activities sponsored by Professionals Today includes providing
Christmas gifts annually for the clients at Bridgeway; paper donations
for Golden Villa, and sponsoring a scholarship for a Ponca City High
School graduate.
